Job Title: MEICA Site Supervisor (Water Treatment)
Location: North West of England
Key Responsibilities:
MEICA Site Supervision:
- Installation & Management: Supervise mechanical, electrical, instrument, control, and automation (MEICA) installations, ensuring work is conducted safely and to the highest quality standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Actively contribute to the production of site safety documentation, ensuring SHE standards are continuously improved, and safe systems of work are strictly adhered to.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure a high-quality product is delivered, adhering to current standards and specifications.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Ensure ITPs (Inspection Test Plans) are in place, check sheets are completed throughout construction and commissioning, and appropriate records are produced for hazardous area and safety-critical systems (e.g., COMPEX certification, tightness testing).
- Safety & Isolation: Enforce MEICA safety rules, support the production of related documentation, actively participate in isolation planning and management, and ensure the competency of subcontractor site resources.
- Permitting & Inspections: Oversee the issuance of Costain permits (where required) or ensure implementation of UU/Subcontractor permits. Conduct regular MEICA safety inspections of temporary and permanent equipment.
- Testing & Handover: Oversee on-site testing (e.g., cable testing, pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, software/telemetry testing) and assist with the compilation of handover documentation, as-built drawings, O&Ms (Operation & Maintenance manuals), etc.
Reporting Structure:
- The role reports directly to the Works Superintendent.
Project Scope:
- Individual project values typically range between 200k - 3M.
- This is a site-based position.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
HNC or higher within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline.
Previous water/wastewater site experience (preferred) or familiarity with process industries.
Familiarity with WIMES (Water Industry Management & Information System) and United Utilities MEICA standards (preferred).
Familiarity with working in hazardous environments. Prior knowledge of DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) and COMPEX requirements.
SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) / SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
Desirable:
Experience working within the United Utilities MSP Framework
