Meridian Business Support are recruiting for a Porter for their client based in Derby.Role SummaryAs part of the Estate Services Team you assist with the provision of services in relation to portering activities in order to meet the business needs of the University.
Accountability's
1. To set out rooms and other areas of the University as required for lectures, lettings, conferences and other events.
2. To ensure as far as practicable, that all areas are maintained in a presentable and tidy condition.
3. Undertake the movement of furniture, equipment, and materials; and to receive and dispatch mail, parcels and other deliveries on and between campuses as required.
4. To assist in providing a safe and welcoming environment for all users of the University.
5. Report any maintenance issues and provide assistance as required.
6. To act as relief Porter on any University site, and to provide assistance at any site if required, ensuring that an up to date working practices of all sites is maintained.
7. To drive University vehicles to assist with portering duties and from time to time assist the Transport Department in other driving commitments.
8. Act as a First Aider after appropriate training.
9. To assist with any request for assistance in the event of lift or fire alarm activation.
10. To work shift patterns including early and late hours, prepared to adjust working hours and arrangements were necessary and work weekend hours to support business critical events.
11. To undertake any other duties as seen appropriate by the Porters Team Coordinator, Print Supervisor or Print Services Manager and work flexibly across all areas of the Print Services team and Estate Management department.
Experience Required Relevant work experience including physical activity and manual handling. Working within a portering based team or
Previously worked within a large multi-site organization. Driving License is required.
Skills, knowledge and abilities Required- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, adaptable and flexible to changing shifts
- Ability to work in teams and on own initiative
- Able to perform a wide variety of manual handling tasks
- Current First Aid at Work Certificate
- Customer Service related qualification
- Knowledge of health & safety practices, security and fire best practice
- Basic computer skills, including MS Office
- Trained in manual handling
The hours of work are: 8am - 4:30pm however the ideal candidate will have a flexible approach on working hours to meet the clients needs.
Rate of Pay: 14.55 per hour, an
Enhanced DBS check will be carried out prior to starting.
