The Senior Accountant will play a key role in preparing and analysing financial records, supporting audit engagements, and advising clients on financial best practices. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting and auditing, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding industry standards. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Assist in audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting in line with SAIPA standards and regulations.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure all accounts are accurately maintained.
- Work with clients to gather information, understand their business needs, and provide financial guidance.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes for client accounts.
- Conduct variance analysis, identify discrepancies, and recommend adjustments or improvements.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Stay up to date with changes in accounting and auditing standards to maintain best practices.
Qualifications & Skills: - Bachelors Degree in accounting (BCom) required.
- Completion of SAIPA articles as a minimum.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, Pastel, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and GAAP principles.
- Proficient in VAT and income tax submissions.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
