FITTER AND TURNER

An opportunity has become available for a Fitter and Turner with my client based in Vereeniging, Gauteng.
My client, a giant in the manufacturing environment is seeking a vivacious, robust and highly energetic, qualified Fitter and Turner. Minimum 5 years of experience, within the steel industry. Previous experience in a Supervisory or management role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Trade qualifications in Fitting and Turning.
- Minimum of 5 years 's experience in a similar role within the steel industry.
- Proven experience in a Supervisory or management role.
- Experience working with conventional Lathe and turret Milling machines.
- Experienced in using manual tools and semi-automated tools.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and communication to quality.
- Efficient and able to work well under pressure.
- Willing to work in physically demanding conditions, occasionally in confined or elevated spaces.
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements.
- Knowledge of properties of metal and other materials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the maintenance of the Crusher plant equipment, people, and processes.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of crushing plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and faults in machinery and promptly carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
- Schedule and execute maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure that the clay bunkers of crushed and uncrushed clay are always full.
- Adhere to safety protocols and comply with relevant regulations and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Communicate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to procure spare parts and components as needed.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repair details, parts used, and maintenance logs. Train and mentor Apprentices to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Stay updated on new equipment models, technologies, and industry best practices related to crushing plant maintenance to improve knowledge and skills continually.
- Provide assistance and support during plant shutdowns or emergencies, including working overtime o or on-call shifts if required.
