- Provide and maintain an environment that is safe for all employees and visitors on site.
- Ensure compliance to all legal and Saint-Gobain mandatory requirements.
- Drive site action plan towards achieving the Group Sustainability objectives (CO2, water, circular economy and product stewardship).
- To establish, implement, control and manage all ISO management systems and Saint-Gobain Health, Safety & Environmental standards at the Cape Town Parow factory.
- Develop the safety culture. Analyse the outputs from contributions to safety/environmental submissions and develop action plans to address shortfalls.
- Ensure hazards are identified, risk assessments are completed and risk reduction initiatives are executed to mitigate or eliminate the hazards.
- Ensure that employees are upskilled in hazard identification to prevent incidents, accidents and injuries.
- Ensure that incidents are reported, investigated, documented within accepted time frames and prevented.
- Use WCM toolset in daily activities and in maintenance & driving of the Safety & Environmental Pillars.
The ideal candidate must have a ND: Relevant qualification in Safety/Health/Environment (NEBOSH, National Diploma) with SAMTRAC or equivalent with min 5 years relevant experience ideally in a manufacturing environment. ISO 9001/14001/45001 – Internal Auditing and Environmental Law Course – covering NEMA and relevant Environmental Acts (Pref). This role calls for a person with the ability to interact with all role players, customers, and ISO/WCM Auditors at all levels, good communication skills and Interpersonal skills.
