Job Overview
Inspect, maintain, repair, assemble, and overhaul farm machinery, equipment, and vehicles, such as tractors, pumps, trucks, motorbikes, and other mechanized equipment.
Key Accountability Areas include but are not limited to:
- Attend to breakdowns
- Disassemble equipment to install repaired or replacement parts
- Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles
- Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts
- Repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
- Strip and assemble gearboxes, differentials, and steering boxes
- Engine fault finding
- Problem solving on diesel engines
- General service on diesel engines
- Brakes repairs and maintenance, including air brakes
- Engine fitting
- Remove and replace injector pump
- Engine repairs and timing
- Basic electric fault finding on all vehicles
- Servicing trucks/Ldvs
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 and relevant experience as a mechanical artisan
- Valid driver’s license
- Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
