What will you do?
As part of our global penetration strategy, we need the expertise of four (4) highly dynamic Reinsurance Client Managers, who are ready to explore the unlimited potential of Middle East & Africa, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
• Reinsurance Client Manager: India and Sub Continent,
• Reinsurance Client Manager: Middle East and North Africa (MENA),
• Reinsurance Client Manager: Europe,
• Reinsurance Client Manager: Asia Pacific
Applicants must be either living in close proximity to Santam Re, based in Cape Town or Johannesburg, South Africa, or be prepared to relocate to these locations. These roles also require frequent travel to the region for which the Reinsurance Client Managers are responsible.
Each will develop, manage and maintain a reinsurance treaty book within their respective geographical regions, and report to the Cluster Market Head. While the roles are client-facing, inclusive of analytics and technical accounting, successful candidates will also work in conjunction with the underwriting and pricing teams.
What will make you successful in this role?
Key accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- Driving strategy, profitability and growth in the region, according to the set targets.
- Building and maintaining reinsurance broker and client relationships for existing and potential businesses.
- A thorough understanding of client objectives and reinsurance needs.
- Ensuring that customer businesses comply with their country’s regulatory regimes.
- Familiarity with and understanding of contract wordings, and ability to negotiate on a granular level in compliance with internal guidelines.
- Checking and monitoring accounts, payments, growth and profitability of the treaty book.
- The training and development of clients and team members to advance their expertise and embrace new industry activities, movements, advances and capabilities.
- Detailed meeting capture and strategy development following market visits.
- Underwriting and Pricing treaties using internal models.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum requirements:
- Undergraduate degree with a significant numerate component.
- A minimum of seven years of work experience in the reinsurance, finance, risk management or engineering environments.
- A good understanding of reinsurance principles and concepts, inclusive of reinsurance wordings, reinsurance markets, and the end-to-end analysis of a reinsurance submission.
- Experience in building and managing a portfolio of reinsurance risks.
- A strong understanding of insurance and related risks.
- Fluency in an additional language such as is spoken in the Middle East, Asia, Europe or Africa. Willingness to travel within South Africa and internationally.
Advantageous qualifications, knowledge and experience:
- Master’s degree (Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, etc.) or Actuarial Qualification.
- Reinsurance technical accounting knowledge.
- Solid Client and Business Development experience.
