Your opportunity:
The Office of the Faculty Registrar works closely with departments and colleges at the University of Toronto, concerning virtually all matters relating to Arts and Science students. Our department members are dedicated to aid all students to the greatest extent, to make their university experience as smooth and seamless as possible. We coordinate personal, financial, and academic counselling, registration and enrollment, student records, transfer credit, petitions, final examinations, and graduation.
Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Student Recruitment, the Recruitment Officer works closely with the Faculty’s recruitment team to implement strategies and initiatives to assist the Faculty of Arts and Science achieve its undergraduate recruitment goals. As part of a dynamic recruitment team, the Recruitment Officer provides direction and leadership in all areas of undergraduate student recruitment and helps with all unit activities. In all cases, the position involves close contact and cooperation with the central Office of Student Recruitment team, undergraduate recruitment offices across the University, as well as the Faculty’s registrar’s office, 29 departments and 7 colleges.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
- Determining appropriate schools to visit based on an analysis of feedback and market trends
- Delivering student recruitment presentations
- Promoting programs at recruitment events
- Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
- Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures
- Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years related undergraduate student recruitment experience in a large, post-secondary institution.
- Must be conversant with issues related to domestic and international student recruitment, admission and university life.
- Demonstrated experience presenting to large and diverse groups
- Proven event planning experience in the context of student recruitment.
- Excellent computer skills, including in-depth knowledge of and extensive experience with Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Well-developed project-management and problem-solving skills is required.
- Experience using ROSI and CRM systems and content management systems (e.g., Slate).
- Frequent long-term travel several times a year (e.g. 1-3 week periods at a time) is required.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience and knowledge of University of Toronto policies and procedures
- An ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a language other then English is an asset.
- Related marketing experience an asset.
