At Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd, we strive to deliver best-in-class locomotives to our customer for use of freight transportation on the railway corridors of South Africa.
Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an Operations Manager for our Traxx Africa project based in Durban.
THE PURPOSE OF THE OPERATIONS MANAGER ROLE IS TO:
The Operations Manager ensures the global operational execution and performance of the TRAXX RSC project, from the PU Production Units (PPC, BOK…) to subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and till the commissioning of the locomotives.
The Operations Manager manages all the Industrial Operations for activities during tenders and projects execution covering Industrialization / PME, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning… These functions are managed according to the project and industrial strategy defined by the TRAXX RSC project director.
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Ensures the OPS industrial management of the Site Industrial / Manufacturing / Supply Chain / Project Manufacturing Engineering / APSYS / General Services / Quality.
- Ensures the deployment of all the Alstom industrial Standards on Site and required reporting.
- Ensures the deployment of the key industrial Alstom programs / tools / audits / controls / certifications (GSI, ICQ, APSYS, AZDP, SIOP…).
- Industrial costing for site at tender and project development phases.
- Challenges Project phases for ensuring Design for Operation / Quality in development cycle.
- Ensures the industrial deliverables according to gates of projects in execution matching project QCD objectives and industrial operation standards.
- Accountable for the proper implementation and full compliance with Code of Ethics, EHS and other Alstom policies and Customer requirements.
- Manages OPS workload: anticipate & ensure industrial staffing (PME – Manufacturing – SC…).
- Ensures that all industrial / Operation data are well settled in the ERP and associated landscape (GSI, AOS..etc), that all counterparts are using all methodology & tools provided to them.
- Ensures that day-to-day management is under control at operations level.
- Schedules and controls the daily operations on the production lines, so that products are manufactured on time in accordance with the Master Production Schedule.
- Defines the way to optimize flows and manages the Site inventories under the global OPS scopes.
- Manages the industrial CAPEX (Budget and Deployment).
- Manages the teams in accordance with all Alstom People Processes.
- Leads with a problem-solving approach when technical or operational issues arise.
- Performs lessons learned / feedback on industrial activities and contributes to update the Industrial Ref Lib of the platform.
- Develops direct reports and manages direct reports and ensures proper delegation when required.
- Responsible for relationship management with the Customer on site.
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
- Engineering or master’s degree level education, preferably in industrial fields.
- Extensive industrial, supply chain knowledge.
- Alstom product knowledge and project/company background will be an advantage.
- Railway Industry experience will be desirable.
- Ability to travel.
