A career in our Corporate Law practice, within Legal Services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients adopt a more strategic approach to global entity governance across their organisations. We help our clients and their legal entities with the incorporation of new companies, ongoing compliance with local legislation, and restructuring of their global businesses to manage governance and compliance risks.
Our team possesses extensive knowledge of local and national corporate law. You’ll help our clients with a range of legal services including provision of support in choosing the type of company, drafting of corporate documents, contracts and the necessary assistance in the performance thereof, setting up companies, structuring capital, restructuring corporate governance, implementing changes to the legal structure, setting up joint ventures, and managing tax and real estate issues.

PWC UK is seeking a junior Commercial lawyer based in the South Africa Technology and Innovation Centre (SATIC) which is part of PwC and based in Johannesburg to support its UK Office of General Counsel, Commercial Team, primarily focused on UK Government & Public Sector (G&PS) contracts. This role will provide key support to PwC UK bid teams, senior lawyers, and risk management professionals on G&PS matters, by:
- Reviewing and advising on non-standard contracts and related materials within Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents issued by G&PS clients;
- Reviewing and advising on the suite of G&PS framework agreements PwC UK has signed up to;
- Preparing clear advice notes setting out key contractual risks within the terms;
- Liaising and communicating effectively with a wide range of internal clients to ensure they understand service-specific requirements, the contract position and PwC UK’s approach;
- Providing ad hoc support to our senior lawyers on particular G&PS projects or deals;
- Maintaining and improving our G&PS systems, databases and resources;
- Performing other similar tasks.
Key requirements for the role:
- At least 2 years’ PQE (or equivalent) in providing commercial legal advice, either within an in-house environment or within law firms, ideally working with organisations similar to PwC or its competitors;
- Great communication skills;
- Good experience of advising on a range of commercial contracts;
- Good drafting skills;
- Ability to handle large volumes of data and text with accuracy and speed, to identify issues, and be adept at conveying issues to a non-legal audience. The ability to work effectively to deadlines is an absolute must;
- Ability to adapt and to be open-minded and innovative;
- An ability to build good relationships and become a trusted advisor to the business.
