The role:
We’re looking for a content specialist and creative wordsmith bursting with ideas to join our team. You’ll work side-by-side with our Head of Marketing, Marketing Executive and Graphic Designers to bring our We Are Africa & Do Not Disturb events to life with smart and brand-driven copy. From emails and social posts to web copy and sales decks, you’ll work from concept to completion and execute excellent brand storytelling for our B2B audience. Demonstrating creative flair and initiative, you will adapt to new deadlines while always maintaining excellent internal communication to manage expectations. Alongside your day-to-day copy writing, you will also support with some key marketing-related tasks and activities, in particular relating to content activation and brand ideation. If you're eagle-eyed with outstanding proofreading skills (no wayward commas make it past you) and are resilient, adaptable and enthusiastic, then this could be the ideal role for you.
What you will do:
Write and/or proof-read creative copy for brand, marketing and sales communications including emails, social media posts, quarterly newsletters, PDFs/brochures and website updates.
Ensure all copy is of the highest editorial standards and free from all typographical and grammatical errors.
Ensure consistency in brand tone of voice and narrative across all touchpoints.
Write and proof-read copy for our members-only digital platform alongside our CRM/Digital team.
Build strong internal relationships with the sales and buyer teams to gain a deep understanding of client behaviour.
Provide support in the research and production of the annual marketing plan to help achieve the brand's strategic goals.
Collaborate with marketing, creative and operations teams on briefs that fulfil business aims and successfully appeal to the relevant target audience.
Generate ideas for brand campaigns across multiple platforms (including digital, multimedia, print and experiential).
Develop creative content and multimedia ideas to improve the quality of our content on social media.
Identify and engage with online influencers and other partners to leverage growth across our own channels.
Maintain and grow our online community across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
Assist with briefing of email designs, social media designs and other ad hoc PDFs and collateral on Asana, liaising with the graphic design team where necessary.
Build and send marketing emails on Pardot, working with the Marketing Executive, Graphic Designer and sales team to ensure all elements are ready for building and approval by the Head of Marketing and Event Director.
Ensure the website is kept up to date via the CMS at all stages of the event and campaign cycles, liaising with the digital team where necessary.
Provide key admin support on various projects such as catalogue production, award submissions, community project management, pre/post tours, etc.
What you will need:
Impeccable command of the English language and ideally a degree in English or similar literary subject.
Minimum 5 years demonstrable experience writing for a strong brand as part of a Marketing/Media or Creative/Content team.
Proficiency with social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube; you understand how to tailor copy to each of these platforms.
Demonstrable experience in generating innovative, fit-to-brief creative ideas and copy while displaying a thorough understanding of brand tone and narrative.
Demonstrable experience maintaining excellent internal communication to manage expectations and competing timelines - highly organised.
Highly creative and imaginative with an editorial mindset.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a clear, confident communicator.
Commercial mindset and able to tailor your words to the marketing objective that’s been set for you.
Passion for travel and knowledge of the events industry is a plus!
