Job Description
To partner with the business in the provision of financial advice and support to increase operational quality, through the execution of financial services as per agreed standard operating procedures.
- Review and prepare annual financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and the latest accounting disclosure and IFRS requirements.
- Responsible for forecasting & budgeting, reporting and presentations.
- Review and prepare tax returns to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax legislation and regulation; provide advice and solutions to business tax matters.
- Ensure up to date and accurate financial records are maintained for business unit reporting.
- Partner with stakeholders in the provision of financial insights and guidance into the operational and general decision making and debates.
- Prepare and present financial performance (management reports) and Annual Financial Statements for approval to relevant committees, understand and provide guidance on the accounting implications.
- Co-ordinate external and internal audit engagements and facilitate audit matters.
- Manage and monitor the applications and effectiveness of the business's financial information systems.
- Coordinate the budget preparation and manage the process throughout the budget period in accordance with guidelines and assumptions. Monitor and report variance analysis to support decision making and guide management in taking corrective action on budget variances.
- Record, interrogate and manage costs with associated drivers in the production, analysis and use of information for decision-making in the business.
- Plan and apply relevant principles to accurately record, adjust and reconcile financial transactions and events.
- Maintain appropriate supporting documentation according to professional financial accounting and reporting standards.
- Prepare and report on the financial performance. Manage the business unit reporting systems for management, project or performance reporting and implement optimal processes to deliver management information according to the reporting cycle.
- Maximize productivity through efficient planning of people and processes to drive optimal utilisation of available resources; identify and implement improvements to accounting and reporting processes.
- Conduct associated intervention activities in line with applicable laws, policies and procedures.
- Participate and contribute to a development culture where information regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas are actively shared.
- Monitor and coach behaviors that ensure a service culture which builds rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service.
- Plan and manage performance, skills development, succession and talent management and culture of team in order to improve performance and competence.
- Continuously assess own performance, seek timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate.
Additional Information:
- The ideal candidate will be familiar with and manage elements of financial reporting, reconciliations, presentations to management, engaging with auditors and senior stakeholders.
- Furthermore, the candidate will be required to perform the following:
- Business Partnership and provide support to the Product Head.
- Analysis of monthly results in line with financial requirements.
- Demonstrate an understanding of accounting standards (IFRS), taxation and reporting requirements.
- Public benefit organization experience beneficial.
- Corporate governance, risk and compliance understanding and general application.
- Strong inter-relationship skills coupled with ability to work with senior stakeholders and external parties.
- Candidate is required to be a self-starter, be able to work with tight deadlines and work independently.
- There will also be ad hoc matters as required.
Qualification/Experience:
- Minimum 5 years working experience with B.Com or B.Com Honours.
- SAIPA articles beneficial.
