We are currently recruiting for a Regional Operations Executive to join our dynamic team, based in the Central Office - Nelspruit (Lowveld).
The purpose of this position is to grow retail profitability, sales and our retail market share through providing an effective and efficient retail consulting service to our retailers by strategically leading and managing our Regional Build it team in order to optimise the performance of existing stores and the development of new stores while driving the Build it brand, national and regional strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide leadership to the regional Build it team by building a culture of continuous improvement and staff development within the region.
- Participate in the general management duties of Build it Executive and SPAR Regional teams.
- Chairperson to the Build it Regional Guild Committee, participate in the Build it National Guild Committee.
- Build effective relationships with Build it Retailers, Build it Executives, Build it heads of departments, Build it senior management, Build it Regional Guild Committee, Build it National Guild Committee and regional SPAR heads of departments.
- Develop the regional retail operations strategy to drive business growth.
- Provide leadership to retailers in new business development, store development and current retail management best operating practices to ensure the stores are sustainable, profitable, and competitive in the market.
- Assist Retailers to develop store specific strategies to grow their business and combat opposition, underpinned by Build it business growth plans and feasibility models.
- Ensure retail compliance with legislative requirements and related audits by the Department of Labour and legal governing bodies.
- Develop and grow the brand at retail, while growing a network of sustainable Build it retail stores and members.
- Develop regional business growth strategies in conjunction with Build it department heads.
- Manage the implementation of national strategic projects and innovation to drive the Build it business forward.
- Implementation of Best Operating Procedures (BOP) in retail operations in line with national standardized processes regarding support and services across all regions.
- Drive retail operational support, standardize and improve related service levels in line with national strategy.
- Enhance the image and success of Build it stores through development, while monitoring adherence to best operating practices, standards of excellence at retail, general store standards, image and design.
- Manage the corporate identity of the brand through ensuring and monitoring that the Build it regional stores are adhering to acceptable store standards, image, and design by adhering to the CI manual.
- Manage and enhance regional retail performance statistics.
- Deliver formal regional performance feedback presentations to the business.
- Assemble budgets in line with Build it strategy, growth plans and special projects.
- Manage the regional cost centre and related regional Guild expenses within budget.
- Ensure that principles of good corporate governance are practiced in the region as defined in various Group policies and Code of Ethics.
- Lead and organize all regional Build it events/meetings including regional look & learns, members meetings, cell meetings and regional AGM’s.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric), pre-requisite.
- Relevant business-related tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Executive/Senior Management (equivalent to Patterson EL/DU band).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience specific to the building and hardware retail industry, with a track record of strong Customer Care focus.
- Excellent financial and business acumen.
- Track record of meeting operational objectives and customer expectations.
- Personal characteristics: high energy, self-starter, collaborative, attention to detail, exceptional communication and relationship building skills, ability to handle pressure.
- Personal values: honesty, integrity and reliability.
- Ability to listen, consult, motivate, encourage, and influence others.
- Skilled in conducting commercial negotiations, facilitating agreements, and managing conflict.
- Emotional maturity and resilience is essential.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Public speaking/presentation ability to large crowds.
- Driver’s Licence.
