Job Purpose Mechanical biased technician supporting process operations and maintenance activities across the site.
Days based role: Reporting to the Engineering Lead, this role will carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance as required.
Weekend working will be required on a rotational basis during operational periods.
Core Accountabilities - Work in partnership with Department Engineering Lead and to carry out repairs to CHP and compressed air system
- Assist with outage planning and contractor management
- During outages undertake maintenance activities as well as testing and commissioning plant in readiness for operations
- Performing maintenance of mechanical plant such as pumps, fans, valves, high pressure boilers and steam turbines
- Troubleshooting and practical fault finding on plant and mechanical systems
- Reliability techniques such as laser alignment, vibration analysis and oil sampling
- Installation of new plant or modifications as appropriate
- Carry out planned inspection routes on process plant and proactive maintenance
- Reporting of all engineering activities in the appropriate format into the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Making plant safe for maintenance/repairs
- Competent to receive and/or authorise a range of permits as required
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies - Comprehensive technical knowledge and hands on skills gained through large scale, complex operational CHP experience
- Understanding of hazards and controls associated with superheated steam pressure systems
- NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering supported by a recognised apprenticeship
- A proven track record of effective technical problem solving, continuous improvement and contractor management
- Ability to work as an individual and with groups
- Ability to effectively balance urgent and important tasks
- Experience of working in a lean operating environment
- Experience of working in an operational team of varying disciplines and skill levels
