Payroll Consultant: Human Capital Support Services (Fixed Term Contract for 3 Months)

The Group Office provides strategic direction and support to the five clusters, assisting them in realising their strategies and meeting their business objectives. The Group Office is responsible for governance and for the Group's centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial and Risk Management, Strategy, Human Resources, Market Development and Sustainability.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the calculation of wages and making appropriate deductions for tax, pension and medical aid. Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales, taxes, insurance and union deductions and employee identification number from time sheets and other records. Prepares computer input, enters data into computer files or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records. Reviews wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll. Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage and loan payments for each employee to update payroll records. Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments. Prorates expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records. Prepares periodic reports, taxes and deductions. Keeps records of leave pay and non-taxable wages.

- Ensure personnel data is accurately captured and processed.
- Ensure payroll data is captured and processed accurately for the Group.
- Ensure employees’ salary payments are made timeously and accurately every month.
- Adhere to SLAs with the Centre of Excellence (COE) and the Business Units.
- Resolve queries on payroll processes effectively and timeously.
- Liaise with external funds and schemes effectively.
- Generate deduction listings for third party payments for the Group.
- Maintain accurate records of employee benefit enrolment, rates and loans.
- Investigate and respond to client queries referred by client services consultants.
- Provide information as and when requested.
- Participate in projects, contributing ideas and information from area of experience.
- Support team members.
Qualification and Experience
- Grade 12 senior certificate.
- A relevant Human Resources qualification will be an advantage.
- At least 3 years’ experience in payroll processing and administration or 1 year with a 3-year degree/diploma.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- HR Functionality payroll, personnel administration, leave and employer self-service (ESS) preferably on SAP.
