Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record keeping and monitoring of Health & Safety site inspections (e.g. pressure testing, fire equipment inspections, First aid boxes etc.).
- Facilitate the annual Task Based Risk Assessment.
- Assist with incident investigations and the training of SHE reps accordingly.
- Manage the Health & Safety Management System (inspections / procedures / training etc.).
- Monitor and arrange site training needs as well as appointing staff in their duties related to the OHSA requirements.
- Arrange 2 yearly HSE Representative elections, ensuring elected staff are certified and appointed.
- Manage record keeping of Site Inductions for visitors and staff refresher Inductions.
- Arrange safety committee meetings and compile minutes.
- Arrange Occupational Health Surveys as required and review and implement recommendations.
- Monitor staff medicals.
- Incident investigation: monitoring and reporting internally as well as externally.
- Control of contractors / sub-contractors to ensure compliance with FFS Safety standards based on written procedure CP14.
- Ordering and issuing of staff PPE.
- Ensure overall site compliance with the OHS / SANS / NFPA Act & Regulations.
- Assist in MHI Risk Assessment reviews, implementation of recommendations, notification of local authorities as per MHI regulations.
- Conduct daily HSE walks to ensure site compliance to FFS Safety standards (e.g. signage in place, update notice boards & HSE boards, unsafe acts and conditions reported and corrected).
- Ensure management Safety observations are recorded.
- Implement a yearly audit schedule (Conduct audits on all permits including job observations, permit to work and Last-Minute Risk Assessments (LMRA), etc.).
- Act as Isometrix champion.
- Implement and review the annual HSSE plan.
- Generate a list and track progress of MOCs & HAZOPs open on site and provide monthly updates.
- Assist during the commissioning process of a project and ensure completion of the Pre-Safety Start document.
- Review SDSs in line with the GHS system.
- Champion Behaviour Based Safety Initiatives.
- Conduct quarterly Emergency Response Drills.
- Complete the site performance report and monthly highlights.
- Arrange Community meetings and provide feedback on FFS issues with the community.
- Complete weekly toolbox talks with operations team members.
- Review the Emergency response and communication plan annually.
- Initiate the Legal register update annually.
- Review and approve Contractors Safety file.
- Liaise with relevant authorities regarding permits / licenses and requirements in conjunction with SHEQ Manager.
- Capture monthly SAWIS data.
- Compile relevant information for annual submission on SAAELIP & SAGERS.
- Coordinate and ensure all environmental monitoring (ambient air, point source emissions, groundwater, tank modeling) is undertaken and reviewed at environmental meetings.
- Assist with collating all relevant information for internal legal and permit audits.

Environmental Management System (EMS):
Responsible for ensuring EMS implementation in accordance with ISO 14001 compliance at the branch, including:
- Maintenance and management of branch Environmental Management System.
- Ensure satisfactory implementation of the EMS system at Branch and assess compliance at branch level.
- Offer support to employees regarding all environmental aspects of the business.
- Fulfill an advisory function related to any environmental legal and other requirements.
- Maintain and upkeep the Isometrix system (environmental risk management tool).
- Ensure compliance with local by-laws, permits, licenses, and certificate relating to the EMS.
- Participation and leading of external audits (ISO 14001 certification, customer audits).
- Environmental - Management Review and any related meetings.
- Coordinating Environmental projects.
- Review and coordination of all environmental assessments (Air, groundwater, HCS surveys, illumination/ventilation/noise etc.) and problem solving.
- Generate/compile monthly and annual EMS-related statistics and reports as required.
- Conduct risk assessments and updates.
- Manage incident investigations and Non-Conformance reporting follow-up.
- Perform root cause analysis.
- Undertake training at Branch level as required (e.g. procedural, root cause analysis training, Isometrix system training).
