Position Description
QIAGEN is seeking an Account Manager with expertise in Molecular Life Sciences to join our dynamic sales team in Johannesburg. This position involves driving customer engagement and sales growth by identifying opportunities, understanding customer needs, and delivering tailored solutions. The Account Manager will play a key role in strengthening relationships with stakeholders, managing a sales pipeline, and achieving targeted growth through strategic sales efforts.
The ideal candidate will be based in Johannesburg, with responsibility across Gauteng - Johannesburg, Free State, and North West Provinces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Opportunity Identification: Engage with customers to understand new product needs, analyze opportunities, and develop tailored proposals that meet client requirements.
- Product Strategy Development: Develop and refine product strategies for different customer segments, ensuring alignment with customer needs and adjusting as required.
- Customer Engagement and Satisfaction: Prepare and present proposals, secure deals, and continuously monitor customer satisfaction.
- Sales Target Achievement: Drive growth through effective sales opportunity management, as reflected in the CRM system (Salesforce CRM – SFDC).
- Sales Funnel Management: Create, identify, and track sales pipeline through SFDC to support target achievement.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement proactive corrective actions to maintain a stable and effective sales environment.
- Relationship Building: Attend QIAGEN and industry events, engaging with executive decision-makers to strengthen customer relationships.
- Account Mapping: Maintain customer account records and keep them updated.
- Sales Data Analysis: Analyze sales data at the portfolio level, identify trends and variances, and provide monthly reports with explanations for any deviations.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Medical Science or a related Science field, preferably with a focus on Molecular studies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales or commercial role, ideally within the life sciences industry.
- Professional level of the English language, written and spoken.
