Research Supervisor/ Lecturer is responsible for all academic activities related to their assigned subjects.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
- Academic Development
- Design and development of relevant academic programs.
- Curriculum development and alignment with program specifications.
- Development and implementation of program policies.
- Preparation and submission of regulatory approval documents.
- Participation in relevant quality committees.
- Development and management of program budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and profitability.
- Conducting lectures.
- Academic Leadership
- Participation in monitoring, evaluating, and developing academic programs.
- Conducting research to enhance program quality.
- Collaborating with academic colleagues and industry professionals to ensure program relevance.
- Engaging in direct teaching, learning, and research activities.
- Student Records and Academic Monitoring
- Participation in the student registration process.
- Approval of credits and exemptions.
- Academic monitoring, including attendance and maintenance of student records in collaboration with faculty administrative staff.
- Setting, marking, and moderating tests and examinations.
- Participation in the examination certification and promotion of learners.
Degree of Supervision Received:
- Medium: Supervision includes lecturer evaluations, lesson plan checks, and quality assurance of developed materials and assessments.
Planning Necessary in the Job:
- Daily, weekly, and monthly planning for lesson plans, assessments, reports, and marks.
Education:
- Minimum: Honours Degree and experience in the field.
Training:
- Minimum: Facilitator & Assessor.
- Ideal: Facilitator, Assessor, & Moderator registered with a constituent SETA.
Experience:
- Management and teaching in a tertiary environment.
- Strategic abilities relevant to private higher education.
- In-depth knowledge and commitment to Quality Assurance.
- Ability to manage staff in a tertiary environment.
