Position Summary:
Overall management of Machine Shop and resources to ensure that production plans are met to support the overall business objectives (sales order book).
Primary Responsibilities
•Planning and organising production schedule and plan to ensure optimum machine utilization
•Overseeing the production process
•Determining quality control standards
•Liaison with buyers and sales staff
•Assessing project and resource requirements
•Estimating and negotiating time scales with internal clients and managers
•Re-negotiating time scales or schedules as necessary
•Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
•Supervising the work of junior staff
•Mentoring of apprentices and interns
•Controlling budgets and costs relating to tooling and machine maintenance
•Adhering to production and scrap rate targets
•Educate the staff on 5 S and ensure that all staff members are training and Fleximatrix updated
•Ensure that monthly sales targets are met through production schedules.
•Management of Surface Treatment Plant

Required Education
•Matric / Relevant trade / Operations Management / Industrial Engineering
•Experience 10 years +
Required professional experience
•10 years plus production management experience and relevant qualifications
•Technical product knowledge
•Customer relationship and leadership skills
Post school qualifications:
•Relevant trade – Turning & Milling is highly advantageous
•QMS Experience (Rex / IRIS / ISO)
•CNC programming knowledge a must (Siemens / Fanuc Controls / Akuma)
•SAP – Production Planning modules
•Industrial Engineering
•Good understanding, reading, and interpreting of drawings
Process Owner:
- You are the Process Owner of Original equipment manufacturing (LP2), Global operations Resources management (SP3), and company production services (LP8)
- You are second in charge Process Owner of Rail services (LP3)
- It is the responsibility of the Manager/Process Owner to manage, control and implement all processes by the Quality Management System.
- As the Process Owner for the above-mentioned process/es you have the authority to stop the process should it be a risk to the Company, the employee or the product
Ensure that company and legal HSE aspects are adhered to at all times and to report on instances of non-adherence or unsafe / unhealthy conditions.
