An established abattoir in JHB South is seeking a highly organised and self-motivated
Abattoir Manager with strong expertise in systems and operations.
This role involves managing projects and the day-to-day operations, optimising processes, leading engineering initiatives, and overseeing preventative maintenance programmes to ensure the efficiency, safety, and quality of operations.
Requirements: - Live in the JHB South Area.
- Diploma or Degree Mechanical Engineering would be preferable.
- Daily Operations: Control all operations of an abattoir.
- Refrigeration Systems Management: Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of refrigeration systems within the plant, optimizing efficiency and reliability.
- Project Management: Lead projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation.
- Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that engineering systems and processes meet or exceed food safety and product quality standards.
- Preventative Maintenance Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all critical equipment and systems, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Respond promptly to equipment failures and maintenance issues, implementing corrective actions to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operation.
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Stay informed about relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing abattoir processing operations, ensuring full compliance at all times.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, including HVAC systems, cold storage, and freezing technologies.
- Proven track record of successful project management, with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
