Job Title: Mechanical Fire Engineer
Location: Cape Town
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fire Engineer to join our Client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a specialization in fire protection systems. This individual will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining fire protection systems in buildings and industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, and smoke control systems.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine the best placement and design of fire protection systems.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate fire protection systems into building designs.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and calculations for fire protection systems.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on fire protection codes, standards, and regulations.
- Perform cost estimates and budgeting for fire protection system installations.
- Conduct inspections and testing of fire protection systems to ensure they meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with fire protection systems.
- Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to fire protection engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on fire protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of fire protection codes and standards, including NFPA, IBC, and ASTM.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
