Role: Management Accountant - Wabtec Freight Services South Africa
Location: Johannesburg
How will you make a difference?
This role will be responsible for the overall operational finance execution of long-term projects and maintenance service agreements for the business, including budgeting, forecasting, controllership, and reporting. The role will serve as the finance business partner to the project management and services management team, critical to the successful delivery of customer projects and maintenance service agreements and driving profitable growth of Wabtec's Freight Services contracts in the region.
What will your typical day look like?
- Develop, plan, forecast, and control project budgets with the core team.
- Structure and set up projects to ensure cost-effective execution.
- Track, review, and report monthly financial performance, investigating variances.
- Analyse project-related balance sheet accounts for accuracy.
- Lead business management project reviews, presenting financial performance and risks.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
- Manage customer change orders and validate customer claims.
- Handle annual price escalations and FX exposure risk.
- Set up and track project securities with Corporate Treasury.
- Coordinate intercompany transactions and ensure timely settlements.
- Lead financial close and reporting processes.
- Produce monthly management and forecasting packs.
- Manage accounts payable, banking, and treasury functions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in finance roles, including project financial management.
- Knowledge of industrial projects and after-sales services.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with US GAAP and local statutory standards.
- Proficient in English and advanced PowerPoint skills.
