Job Overview
UD Trucks is known for our pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive industry. The main purpose of the job is to manage cost and related expense reporting for the International Manufacturing Plant situated in Rosslyn, Pretoria. Ensuring control, accuracy, predictability, and timely delivery of results, comparative analysis, and commentary to the Operational Management Team and Director: Business Control. Understand business/economic/environmental drivers of Actual results versus Operating Plan and Forecast.
Ensure financial planning processes for direct and indirect expenses – strategically capture, carefully estimate, and skillfully communicate business impacting events. Anticipate changes, seek better practices, and contribute to the company as a whole to be successful in its aims.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the business planning & estimate process in alignment with business expectations and Group directives.
- Develop timely and effective financial management reports, including analysis on monthly performance.
- Interpret business/economic/environmental drivers of Actual results versus Operating Plan and Forecast.
- Manage and support all the Business Unit (BU) expense reporting, ensuring control, accuracy, predictability, and timely delivery of figures, analysis, and comments (Including OPEX).
- Support the Business Unit in pursuit of financial targets through in-depth analysis and sharing of financial knowledge.
- Manage the investment process and the Cost Development process as well as Business Unit Cost Deployment initiatives together with the Business Unit Managers.
- Manage the authorization rules register as well as actively ensure compliance with laws, policies, and best practices.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounts in close cooperation with the Finance Department.
- Support the enhancement and compliance of Business Finance processes, standards, and systems and assist during external and internal audits.
- Interface with the Director Business Control and participate in all the relevant networks.
- Communicate, discuss, and challenge financial impacts with Business Unit Managers. Prepare and present the Business Unit in related meetings where financial input/commentary is required/requested.
- Actively support and manage Business Controller and Cycle Checker.
- Work with UDPS (UD Production System) concept and its tools in operations.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Analytical Thinking - ability to formulate and understand business issues, situations, or problems by breaking them down into smaller parts and analyzing them. Interpret data and draw conclusions and provide focused guidance.

- IT Skills – In-depth experience with ERP system or Inventory Management systems. Strong systems experience and knowledge of IT infrastructure/systems process as well as knowledge in Microsoft Office especially Excel, SAP, Essbase, Syspro.
- Works well under pressure, adhering to strict deadlines and is willing to go the extra mile.
- Proven skills in business, financial, and operational analysis.
- High level of personal integrity and credibility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous controlling and accounting experience is essential.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing (Advantageous).
- B Comm. Degree / B-tech (Cost & Management Accounting) (Minimum requirement).
- CIMA (Advantageous).
- Completed SAICA Articles (Advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in Cost and Management Accounting, preferably within the Automotive industry.
