Job Overview
The Education Director will provide technical guidance and oversight to the Literacy program in South Africa, ensuring high-quality program design and implementation. The Director will work closely with the Program Operations Director and collaborate with the Global and Africa Region Literacy program team members.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design and Implementation
- Collaborate with the Global Literacy program team to develop and refine the program design.
- Ensure global Literacy program guidelines and modules are implemented and adapted to the local context.
- Support the design of professional development modules and learner materials that incorporate online learning and media.
Program Management and Monitoring
- Oversee the collection and documentation of effective practices from the Literacy program.
- Collaborate with the Regional and Global Research, Monitoring & Evaluation team to analyze program metrics and enhance program effectiveness.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to support Literacy program implementation and research.
External Coordination and Networking
- Explore opportunities with government to obtain support and integrate Room to Read's ideas and innovations into the mainstream education system.
- Represent Room to Read at relevant forums and advocate for the importance of Literacy program work.
