Diesel Fitter (Fitter-General)
Due to growing demand, our client is seeking Diesel Fitter/Diesel Mechanic Technicians to join their hardworking and dedicated team. As a Diesel Fitter-Mechanic Technician, you will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical repair.
Your role would include, but not be limited to, the following duties:
- Analyze, diagnose, repair, modify, or install parts and equipment, working to minimize downtime.
- Study drawings to determine suitable material, sequence of operations, and machine settings.
- Diagnose, repair, fit, and overhaul engines, plant equipment, and machinery.
- Maintain, diagnose, repair, and fit hydraulic components of diesel-powered attachments such as pumps and injectors.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble parts/components.
- Use oxy, electric, TIG, and MIG welding techniques to fit, replace, assemble, and repair metal parts, including fabrication of parts, machinery, and other equipment.
- Test repaired parts for proper performance.
- Test and repair basic electrical circuits.
- Use computers and specialized tools to diagnose and repair faults.
- Inspect equipment and machinery for faults.
- Follow workplace Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) protocols.
To be considered for this role, you must have the following attributes:
- Relevant qualifications (at least Cert III) in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent, or a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Diesel Fitter.
- Trained and relevant experience in the trade.
- Diagnostic skills.
- Able to demonstrate efficient work practices.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hydraulics/Pneumatic experience will be highly regarded.
