Ship Planner

Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a Ship Planner, someone with about 2 years’ experience in a shipping environment, preferably in a ship agency.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and communicate vessel arrival with colleagues and port authorities.
- Manage the arrangements of berthing and plan accordingly, managing third parties.
- Handle the authorities and legal requirements to berth the vessel and manage crew requirements.
- Plan the vessel operations with the chief officer.
- Prepare daily vessel operations reports.
- Compile arrival and departure reports for all vessels.
- Compile vessel sailing schedule for the local office on a fortnightly basis.
- Process invoices.
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in a shipping environment, preferably in a ship agency.
- Operations experience in a junior function is essential.
- Maritime/Logistic NQF 4/5.
- Overtime and after-hours work required to manage vessels when at terminal, including public holidays.
- Attention to detail and strict adherence to rules and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations.
- Stress tolerance in an ever-changing environment.
- Computer and communication skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Professional demeanor to deal with third parties at all levels.
- Able to arrive at the office before 08h00 daily (punctual and self-disciplined).
- Must have own reliable transport.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to visit the terminal at all hours when required.
