Vestas Technology & Operations > Supply Chain > Customs & Inbound MED Vestas Mediterranean is a sales & production business unit covering South European Countries, as well as North, East and South of Africa. We are responsible for the Sales function, Project, Installation and Service of wind farms throughout these regions. The Inbound Transport and Customs department is integrated into the Regional Supply Chain structure and supports dedicated responsibilities over PBUs and SBUs.
Responsibilities
- Address and support customs & transport issues concerning new market entry
- Support, coordinate, develop, and monitor the customs brokerage and transport business in MED
- Assist the sales business units with due diligence calculations
- Participate in developing concepts and processes across regions to assist in reducing the overall operating costs
- Operationally address customs handling in the MED region
- Support on transport booking & execution
- Ensure that relevant stakeholders are kept updated on customs issues and changes to regulations that may have compliance or cost impacts
- Support on invoicing and ensure correct P2P application
- Reduce P&B
- Create local recording of customs & shipping documents related to import/export of each country
- Provide accurate reporting as per unit needs
- Coordinate general freight transportation of site parts and transport equipment for projects in execution
Qualifications
- 5 years of work experience, with at least 3 years of relevant experience (within transport and customs in industrial retail, or in the forwarding industry supporting industry retail, or a similar role in customs brokerage services)
- University-level degree in engineering, technical or commercial fields
- Solid knowledge of South Africa & Kenya import/export processes and customs requirements, as well as South Africa inland distribution network
- Comprehensive understanding of international trade terminology and customs regulation
- Good understanding of SARS environment
- Experience in a large international forwarding company or complex industrial projects adds value
- Graduated in international trade or customs compliance is desirable
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) and good communication skills
- Ability to maneuver and communicate among authorities and with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to outline processes and suggest implementation strategies
- Self-driven and problem-solving capability
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify details and to draw and communicate conclusions among different stakeholders
- A collaborative and international mindset
- Good proficiency in IT with a solid knowledge of ERP systems
