What We're Looking For
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of crucial components within the core insurance platform. The primary objective is to leverage the latest trends and technologies in software engineering to enhance backend services and applications. Reporting to the Head of Technology, the successful candidate will collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to complex technical projects and ensuring alignment with overarching technology goals.
Responsibilities
- Improve the quality of the platform: Own key performance indicators, driving their visibility and utilizing them to enhance code, architecture, and processes. Address technical debt, re-architect old design decisions, and enhance performance and resilience.
- Extend the platform: Develop new capabilities that empower users. Lead architecture design and decision-making for the designated area of the platform.
- Improve the team: Share experience and knowledge. Enhance documentation, documenting design decisions and rationale. Mentor fellow engineers.
Skills Required
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Expert-level Python mastery, including knowledge of language intricacies, design, ecosystem, and libraries.
- Python subject-matter expertise with a focus on providing mentorship on best practices.
- Experience with the Django framework.
- Extensive experience with cloud services, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Proficiency in Linux and creating/running containerized applications (e.g., with Docker).
- SQL knowledge and experience.
Advantageous Skills:
- Experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
- Experience in a startup environment.
