About the Role:
This pivotal role offers oversight and accountability for the client’s managed credit portfolio, reporting directly to the Head of Credit and Portfolio Management (CPM). The portfolio spans investments in South African corporates, municipalities, state-owned entities, leveraged buy-outs, project finance, property, securitisation transactions, and developmental market credit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Shape and execute the client’s credit strategy alongside the Head of CPM, driving portfolio success.
- Product Innovation: Identify and present innovative credit opportunities to strengthen the portfolio.
- Investment Expertise: Provide critical input during the investment decision-making process.
- Transaction Execution: Collaborate with asset managers to execute new transactions while adhering to investment requirements.
- Portfolio Benchmarking: Analyze and report portfolio exposures against market and internal benchmarks.
- Asset Oversight: Lead reporting activities and manage the counter-party watchlist with an eye for restructuring opportunities.
- Development: Enhance internal ratings scorecards and contribute to asset valuations.
- Engagement: Foster relationships with asset managers to source unlisted asset opportunities and maintain mandate compliance.
- Market Insights: Deliver timely, insightful market and industry research.
- Implementation: Drive execution of the overnight strategy, including legal negotiations.
Your Profile:
- Education: BCom, BBusSci, or equivalent. A CA(SA) and CFA designation is a significant advantage.
- Experience: At least 5 years as a Credit Analyst, with expertise in investments and fixed income instruments.
- Competencies:
- Professionalism and attention to detail.
- Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client-service orientation.
- Commercial acumen and ability to perform under pressure.
