External Sales Engineer

One of Flowtec's best clients is a leading international manufacturer and provider of industrial sealing equipment. With 20 years' experience and present in over 60 countries, the company provides their sealing solutions to different industries, including oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, mining, food processing and power generation.
To strengthen their sales team, my client is looking for an external sales engineer to sell their complete portfolio in the whole region of Scotland.
Responsibilities
The general purpose of the position is to develop new business generally in the central belt of Scotland and further afield, and promote the company's products to achieve budget and profitability targets. The company is an expanding business and it is expected that the strategy of gaining more business in the key industry sectors will continue to provide most of our growth at end-users. An existing turnover on the area also needs to be maintained and further developed.
The main tasks of the position are the following:
- Develop and implement appropriate sales targets and strategies within the operating expenditure budgets for the area
- Bring in new customers
- Set and achieve sales turnover and profit targets
- Recommend promotional and exhibition activities and actively participate in events
- Recommend the introduction of new products and services
- Call on technical and service staff for assistance
- Preparation and submission of major contracts/quotations to customers in accordance with company pricing and sales policies
- Provide on-site technical and applications support to customers
- Promote the company s products and services through sales seminars
- Operate and comply at all times with the companies health and safety policies, company regulations, procedures and ISO quality standards
- Carry out any other duties reasonably required or commensurate with the post as requested by Management from time to time in pursuance of company business.
- Report to the Sales Director.
Requirements
- Preferred minimum HNC in mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of mechanical seals would be a distinct advantage, but not necessary.
- Some technical experience/knowledge of centrifugal pumps, agitators or centrifugal compressors is a mandatory requirement for this position.
- Ability to discuss highly technical concepts with prospective leads
- Willingness to travel
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
