Risk Management: On and off site. Daily route planning and briefing of drivers on most economical routes to be taken.
Operations Management:
- Communicate with all personnel to ensure smooth running of loading and offloading of trucks.
- Ensure timely delivery of our products.
- Act as a communicator between the Driver & Client and address any issues on-site with Customer and/or Driver.
- Liaise with Drivers to address any problems that may arise with deliveries.
- Physically check any items returned before requesting credit notes to be passed.
- Perform physical truck inspections to determine preventative maintenance, repairs, and damages.
- Determine if damages were due to abuse and take disciplinary steps against the driver if damage was caused through abuse.
- Monitor driver abuse, wear and tear, tyre usage, and take necessary preventative actions.
- Monitor the fleet’s diesel consumption.
- Attend to breakdowns and accidents, and put alternative plans in action to ensure delivery takes place with minimum inconvenience to the customer.
- Chair weekly toolbox talks with the team, give advice and motivate the team, address any concerns or problems that may arise.
- Collaborate and communicate information related to shipments with relevant internal teams and customers.
- Live monitoring of the fleet.
- Driver training and onboarding, on 24 hours standby for drivers in case of an accident.
- Weekly debriefing of staff.
- Enforce discipline and take disciplinary action against staff when needed.
- Keep premises neat and clean by delegating, and ensure that the yard is secured.
- Prepare and review drivers' incentives monthly.
- Present weekly and monthly reports to managers and directors.
- Ad hoc duties.
