The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand our AWC market presence in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the MedTech landscape, exceptional sales skills, and the ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities:
- Market Analysis and Strategy Development: Conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities for growth and emerging trends in the MedTech sector (Acute and Post Acute). Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve revenue targets and market penetration goals.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, hospital administrators, government and other key stakeholders. Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions that address their specific challenges and requirements.
- Sales and Revenue Generation: Actively manage the sales territory by partnering with the appropriate sales & support roles including clinical, marketing teams & channel partner’s sales teams. Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients to differentiate Solventum from competitive offerings.
- Partnership and Collaboration: Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with key customers & decision makers including physicians, nurses, clinicians, procurement teams, other organizations, including distributors, technology partners, Medical Aids and healthcare institutions (Hospitals and Groups). Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to product development, marketing, and customer support, to ensure successful product launches and customer satisfaction.
- Market Presence and Brand Building: Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other relevant events to enhance brand visibility and establish industry presence. Monitor competitive activity and market trends to inform strategic decisions and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Reporting and Analysis: Track and analyze sales performance in SF.Com, market trends, and customer feedback to measure effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management EMEA & MEA on business development activities and outcomes.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in business development within the MedTech or healthcare industry.
In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the South African healthcare system, Very Strong Relationships with the different Specialties and KOLs in South Africa (Nationally) especially in the AWC field.
- Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth. Ability to create and develop new business opportunities.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Current, valid Driver’s License.

- Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Johannesburg)
Travel:
May include up to 40% travel required nationally in South Africa.
