Financial Accountant Position

The Company currently has an opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant. The position reports to the Finance Manager and is based in Walvis Bay.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for all external reporting to stakeholders including monthly flash and actual reporting.
- Responsible for all internal reporting to management.
- Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and trial balances prepared by accountants.
- Ensure a strong and effective internal control and governance framework is followed, financial data is complete and accurate, and all transactions are consistent with IFRS.
- Manage and ensure efficient year-end processes and timely submission of financial year-end pack.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements within the group.
- Assist with annual budgeting and updated forecasting processes.
- Maintain and overview group fixed asset register, including overview of asset verification process.
- Ensure all profit-impacting items are accounted for within deadline for flash.
- Work closely with creditors to ensure all items to be cleared of reconciliations are cleared timeously.
- Assist with preparation of audit reporting requirements.
- Liaise with and assist internal and external auditors where required.
- Assist with ad hoc requests as required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- 3 - 5 years accounting experience.
- A Chartered Accountant qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing people.
- Ability to influence stakeholders.
- Ability to be proactive and work independently, with the skill to adapt and drive change where necessary.
- Strong IFRS experience required.
- Logistics experience and understanding will be an advantage.
