Procurement Specialist in Logistics
The Procurement Specialist in Logistics is responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement processes within the logistics department. This role involves sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services critical to the efficient operation of our logistics and supply chain functions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with vendors, internal stakeholders, and the Procurement Manager to ensure the timely delivery of quality products and services while maintaining cost efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and select reliable suppliers and service providers for logistics-related products and services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Sourcing and Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost savings while maintaining product and service quality.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Continuously monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels and timely replenishment.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize carrying costs and stockouts.
- Cost Control: Track and analyze procurement costs to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Implement cost-effective procurement processes and policies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all procured goods and services meet the required quality standards.
- Work with vendors to resolve quality issues promptly.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to company procurement policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics, finance, and operations, to align procurement activities with organizational goals.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement, such as supply chain disruptions and vendor performance issues.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Experience: Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in procurement, preferably within the logistics or supply chain industry.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management.
- Experience with international procurement and global supply chains.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the logistics industry.
- Must be a Chinese candidate willing to travel into the DRC.
