We are recruiting for a Bookkeeper for a well-established, independent accountancy practice to fulfil clients bookkeeping needs including VAT return preparation. Whilst advertised as a full-time role, the firm may consider part-time for the right candidate.
This is an approved training practice for both ICAEW an ACCA and the firm is happy to sign off training records.
The successful candidate will receive 4% employers pension contribution and 28 days annual holiday inclusive of bank holidays, increasing to five working weeks after three continuous years, and then an additional day for each complete year, up to maximum of six weeks.
As Bookkeeper your duties will include:
- Recording all financial transactions into the clients accounting software systems
- Preparing accounts up to trial balance, including reconciliation of all key balance sheet nominals including bank reconciliations, VAT, PAYE etc.
- Preparing profit and loss and balance sheet reports
- Preparing VAT returns (cash or accrual basis) to meet Making Tax Digital requirements and informing our clients of any refunds/liabilities due
- Reconciling VAT on a quarterly basis
- Assisting clients where necessary and occasional travel to clients offices in the future
- Assisting with the firm s payroll bureau service when needed and providing holiday cover
- Assisting with ad hoc admin duties when needed
Skills and attributes required for this Bookkeeper role:
- Previous experience preferably gained within a practice environment
- Be IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel and experience in Sage Accounts and Xero
- Hardworking, showing initiative and must be self-motivated
- Organised approach and ability to cope with repetitive tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-orientated, accurate and diligent
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Works well under pressure and tight timelines
