Bar Manager
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Our Bar manager will ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the Social Club in order to deliver excellent customer service to members and potential new members. This will include ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to and that all activities undertaken meet all legal requirements. This includes legislation concerning environmental health, building control, planning and health and safety. The Bar Manager will assist in maintaining and increasing the revenues of the social club in conjunction with the Club committees. The Bar Manager is also responsible for ensuring the premises has the required number of staff to meet the needs of the business.
Main responsibilities:
- To take responsibility for the running of the Social Club.
- To directly manage the Senior Bar Staff, ensuring there is always sufficient staff available and that individual performance is reviewed regularly, and training needs are identified and addressed.
- To ensure the most efficient rota and cost-effective running of the staff rota, taking into account staff holidays and sickness
- The Bar Manager will be responsible alongside nominated members of the committee to attend the premises and take appropriate action should the alarm trigger out of hours.
- Ensure the premises has sufficient stock to meet the needs of the Social Club. This must be monitored and regularly updated to ensure the smooth running of the Social Club. in conjunction with the Treasurer
- Ensure the pool tables are emptied on a weekly basis.
- Ensure the Bowls car park machine is emptied on a regular basis.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the premises with assistance of Senior Bar Staff, Casual Staff, and regular cleaners.
- Liaise with members and regular clients about any bookings or events they may wish to book and ensure the lines of communication and maintained throughout. All events must be managed and documented in line with club policy
- Liaise and meet regularly with the Events Committee to ensure the smooth running of the premises. It is essential that the lines of communication are always maintained between the Bar Manager, the Events Committee and the Treasurer.
Person Specification: The following qualities are considered essential
- At least two years experience working in a management capacity within the bar or hospitality sector.
- Excellent working knowledge of the day to day requirements managing a bar/social club setting.
- Able to take responsibility and able to demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills.
- An active team player who is self-motivated and able to work under their own initiative.
- Very organised with a high level of attention to detail.
- Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Flexible and adaptable in their approach to problem solving.
- Committed to delivering high standards and excellent customer service.
- Able to demonstrate excellent people management skills including dealing with performance issues.
- Committed to training and development, both for themselves and for those for whom they are responsible.
