We are currently seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join us on a temporary basis in the capacity of Production Operative, on a fixed term basis for six months.
At SEM, our Production Operatives work as part of a production cell team to manufacture the parts and the final assembly of high quality electric motors. This requires an attention to detail and the ability to follow work instructions. You will be responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the production cell s targets, ensuring the products achieve the quality standards, are delivered on time and are built within the required time requirements.

Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out the assembly of motor products by multi-skilling across five process points within the production function. Ensuring that work is produced to an acceptable quality standard before submitting to the next step in the process and ensuring that the speed of production is adequate to meet the agreed output standards.
- Operating a variety of equipment to support with the assembly processes
- Working against detailed work instructions to ensure that work is executed to a high and consistent quality standard.
- Understanding the Value Stream s targets and how this contributes towards the company s goals. Contributing towards the team effort by working as part of a production team to achieve and exceed production targets
- Identifies opportunities for improvement that have a direct impact on performance - SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People)
- Reporting any issues or non-conformances to the relevant stakeholders to ensure that appropriate action is taken
- Participating in two-way conversations with peers and the rest of the production team; provide and be open to giving & receiving feedback.
- Attending and participating in shop floor meetings to discuss priorities, issues and opportunities
- Carrying out basic manual handling duties
- Maintaining a safe working environment in line with Health and Safety guidelines
- Taking ownership & responsibility for maintaining an orderly and efficient workspace (6S) within your own work area
Our perfect Production Operative would have:
- A mechanical, electronics/electrical, production or manufacturing engineering background is highly desirable
- Proven experience of working in a fast-paced environment on a production line or within a production cell or similar
- The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions
- A strong awareness of and full commitment to the adherence of health and safety guidelines
- An awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion; engages everyone with respect
- Team spirit; collaborates and shares expertise with others & contributes as a team member
- A positive mind-set; thrives under pressure
- A can-do attitude with a flexible and dynamic approach towards learning new skills and varied elements of the role within the production function
- The ability to work on own initiative with a self-managed and focussed approach; seeks opportunities to develop
- Excellent attention to detail whilst maintaining a consistent level of pace (in accordance with production targets)
- The ability to problem solve whilst feeling comfortable to ask questions when support is required
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
An electro-mechanical based qualification is desirable, but not essential

Monday to Thursday, 7.30am-4.15pm. Friday, 7.30am-12.30pm
