Our client has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Cardiac Thoracic Staff Nurse to join their Cardiothoracic Surgical Inpatients Team in their well-renowned private hospital.
*Cardiac Thoracic Senior Staff Nurse*
*Main Roles & Responsibilities:*
· Provide clinical leadership and act as a mentor and role model to junior members of staff.
· Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
· Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status.
· Administer medications, including IV infusions, pain management, and blood products as prescribed.
· Assist in the preparation and recovery of patients requiring advanced interventions such as chest drains, pacemakers, or ventilator support.
· Manage complex wound care, including surgical incisions and thoracic drains.
· Respond promptly to clinical emergencies, such as cardiac arrests, and participate in resuscitation efforts as required.
· Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals, to deliver cohesive patient care.
· Liaise with patients’ families, providing updates and emotional support during their care journey.
*Requirements:*
· Experience working in a surgical inpatient setting.
· Proven experience in caring for patients following cardiac / thoracic surgery (cardiac course desirable).
· Current nursing registration (First Level) through the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
· To be willing to undertake relevant post-registration courses.
· Basic Life Support.
· Mentorship / Preceptorship of junior staff.
