Our client is searching for a Technical Workshop Manager to join their team in Akasia.
Job Description:
The Technical Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of a workshop that focuses on the maintenance, repair, and servicing of trucks and trailers, machinery, and equipment. This includes managing technical staff, ensuring the efficient operation of workshop processes, and maintaining high standards of work quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Management : Manage and supervise workshop staff, including mechanics, technicians, and support personnel.
- Operational Oversight : Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Technical Expertise : Provide technical guidance and support to staff. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Work Scheduling : Plan and coordinate work schedules to ensure optimal use of resources and timely completion of jobs.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure that all work meets quality and safety standards. Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed work.
- Inventory Management : Monitor and manage inventory levels of tools, equipment, and parts. Order supplies as needed and maintain accurate records.
- Service Provider Interaction : Liaise with service providers to ensure they understand the Company’s needs, provide service as per the SLA, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Health and Safety : Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Budget Management : Develop and manage the workshop budget, monitor expenses, and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and other relevant documentation. Prepare reports on workshop activities and performance.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications:
- Education : Qualified diesel mechanic or similar.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in a workshop management role, with a strong background in tautliner/ side tipper maintenance and repair.
- Technical Skills : Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques. Proficiency in using workshop management software.
- Leadership Skills : Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and suppliers.
- Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Organizational Skills : Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Health and Safety : Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
Work Environment:
- The Technical Workshop Manager will primarily work in the workshop, overseeing operations and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00, with occasional overtime required based on workload and deadlines.
