Primary Purpose
The main purpose is to partner with IT leadership and various other stakeholders to ensure end-to-end financial management of our operations. The role is responsible for providing financial guidance and support to these business leaders, as well as monitoring financial performance and identifying areas for improvement. The candidate’s expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our bank achieves its financial objectives, complies with regulatory requirements, and maintains a strong financial position. Overall, the candidate plays a key role in driving our bank's success and growth by leveraging financial acumen to inform strategic decision-making and drive operational excellence.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Advanced degrees such as a professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant CA (SA) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants CIMA (Ideally)
Experience
- 5 years’ previous experience in banking or a similar role
- Thorough understanding of operations in a bank with 6+ years’ experience in a similar industry and role
Technical Competency Requirement
- Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the bank's overall business objectives and drive growth
- Financial Analysis and Modeling: Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends and patterns, and use financial models to forecast future performance
- Performance Measurement and Reporting: Ability to design and implement financial performance metrics and reporting systems that provide insight into the bank's financial performance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Ability to create and manage budgets, and to use forecasting tools to project future financial performance.
- Accounting: Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and IFRS, and ability to apply them to financial reporting and analysis.
- Digital Financial Management: Understanding of digital financial management tools and technologies, including proficiency in data analytics, data visualization, and financial management software.
- Investment Management: Ability to manage the bank's investment portfolio, including selecting investments, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with investment policies.
- Risk Management: Ability to assess and manage financial risks, such as credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, and ability to ensure that the bank is meeting these requirements.
