Job brief We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to manage the company’s supply of products and services. Procurement Manager responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers. The Procurement Manager’s duty is to discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses, so that the company can invest in growth and people. The incumbent will also be expected to gain a thorough understanding of the business in order to implement sound Procurement and ensure commonality of policies.
Job purpose and responsibilities - To identify and outline as far as possible, specific responsibility, accountability and control for the Procurement function pertaining to all relevant legislation as well as guidelines issued by government departments and particularly those pertaining to Preferential Procurement, Enterprise Development & Socio-Economic Development guidelines i.e. BBEEE requirements.
- To develop and implement a purchasing policy and strategy, co-ordinate purchasing practices and maximise savings and benefits available from all purchasing activities.
- To manage and negotiate annual increases proposed by suppliers, ensuring that the proposed increase is market related.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Procurement Process: To undertake the tendering, evaluation, placement and monitoring of a portfolio of corporate contracts.
- To establish the requirements detailed in the Request for quote (RFQ) document, by product / service research.
- To prepare summarized proposals.
- To prepare and oversee the scoring process.
- To award / decline suppliers successful / not successful.
- To implement roll-out within all divisions.
- To evaluate services / projects procured and report accordingly.
- Implement & drafting of SLA’s and Company Policies and Procedures.
- Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
- Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
- Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
- Examine and test existing contracts
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
- Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
- Expect unfavourable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
- Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs

Requirements and skills - Proven working experience as a Procurement Manager, Procurement Officer or Head of Procurement
- Aptitude in decision-making and very strong numerical abilities / working with numbers
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market
- Talent in negotiations and networking
- Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data
- Strong leadership capabilities
