Purpose:
To drive operational excellence, manage IT Technicians, oversee the warehouse and ensure the organisation remains committed to sustainability, balancing efficiency with environmental, social responsibility and governance issues.
Key duties:
Operations management
- Analysing productivity data and optimising staffing and production capacity
- Design new processes to improve quality or increase productivity or profitability
- Manage stock control and inventory checks.
- Communicate changes in order processes to relevant parties.
- Ensure compliance to health and safety regulations.
- Document procedures for third-party monitoring.
- Create and monitor project and teams.
- Review workloads and manpower to ensure targets are met.
- Support the Managing Executive or executive teams vision and strategy.
Financial management
- Managing departmental budgets
- Optimise stock holding in line with stockholding targets
- Devise creative ways to unlock cash tied in inventory
Staff leadership and management
- Resource teams adequately to achieve business and operational targets.
- Manage the effective achievement of our client's group objectives through effective leadership, the setting of individual objectives, managing performance, and developing and motivating teams to maximise performance.
- Build and manage a high-performing team by providing leadership, role clarity, training and career development.
- Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions where necessary.
- Define roles, responsibilities, individual goals and performance objectives for the team.
- Set KPIs and provide regular performance feedback through a well-defined and implemented performance review program within the business unit to achieve business targets
- Performance management resources in accordance with relevant policy and legislation
- Promote a partnership approach to developing strong relationships with other working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance.
Governance, risk and business continuity management
- Ensure that appropriate governance systems are in place and in line with future requirements, i.e. policies, procedures and reporting structures.
- Continually assess the competitiveness of all operations programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
- Stay up to date of new trends and innovations in operations.
- Manage business risk, through continuous internal and external monitoring of business impact, as well as changes in stakeholder needs.
- Lead and guide improvement projects that will increase profits or protect against risks in the function
Education
- Minimum of a Business Management or Engineering degree
- Management/Leadership program will be advantageous
- Postgraduate qualification in business or equivalent for degree holders with no commercial qualification
Experience
- At least 8 years of experience in an operational role with a demonstrated ability to manage and deliver on expectations
- At least 5 years experience in a senior management role.
