Reporting to the Head of Product, the Product Owner is responsible for the success of the Konsise tax pack solution.
You will use your current experience of working in corporate tax submissions, or your experience working for a software company with similar features, to drive the direction of the Konsise tax pack solution.
Key Deliverables:
- Collaborating with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.
- Act as the Subject Matter expert of the tax pack solution.
- Creating and maintaining the product backlog, that clearly communicates customer/ stakeholder needs to the development team, in the form of clear user stories and acceptance criteria, as well as managing bug fixes and enhancements.
- Responsible for the Konsise tax pack solution product roadmaps
- Attend Product Advisory Board Meetings with key stakeholders, both internal and external
- Working closely with engineering/development team when the product is under development for a release.
- High level product testing
- Be the consultant for Konsise tax pack solution projects.
- Dealing with client queries (escalated from support).
- Configuring the product to meet the clients requirements.
- Sales enablement and training on the products and demonstrations
- Assisting with sales meetings as the product expert.
- Assisting with Proof of Concepts (POCs).
- Assisting with and management of marketing collateral for the products.
- Understanding of the competitive landscape.
Skills & abilities
- A good understanding of the income tax submissions and supporting schedules for SARS.
- The ability to see the potential of using technology to change and better the way the processes are done.
- Thorough understanding of the tax environment.
- In-depth, working knowledge of South African accounting and tax principles and legislation specifically for Income tax.
- Excellent ability to be market-facing, identify market opportunities, and translate these opportunities into new software technology, products, features and similar.
- Ability to prioritize effectively.
- Passionate about using technology and the automation of processes: Someone who challenges inefficient manual processes and is constantly seeking improvements using technology.
- Self-managing: this role would report to the Head of Product but is not a role for those needing micro-management. The successful candidate would need to be self-motivated, autonomous and a self-starter.
- Driven, ambitious and confident.
- Thought leader: With having sole ownership of the tax pack products, the candidate needs to be a natural thought leader in the business by being the go-to person for their tax products and tax knowledge and experience.
- Client facing: this role requires client interaction to obtain feedback about the products or to attend sales meetings as the tax expert.
- Analytical and attention to detail: the ability to be analytical and dive deep into processes and data is a key ability for this role.
- Team player: Although no direct reports for this role, it does require ongoing and various cross-functional team involvement and collaboration
Education & qualifications
- Completed three-year tertiary qualification, with a major in tax.
- Or Completed CTA or equivalent degree for CA(SA) articles.
- Completed or busy completing post-graduate tax qualification (e.g., H Dip Tax)
Details of experience
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience or exposure to eFiling, ONESOURCE or any other excel based tax pack solutions.
- 3-4 years minimum tax management experience.
- Currently in a large corporate submitting the income tax returns or working at a software company in a similar space.
