Experience and knowledge
Minimum requirements :
A minimum of 3 years of operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines.
Quality control knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings.
A systematic, logical and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
Excellent communication skills English.
Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
Immediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include, but are not limited to callipers, ID and OD micrometres, depth gages, indicators and scales.
Immediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
Immediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
Must be able to operate lifting devices for movement of parts.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Must be willing and able to work changing work schedules and overtime when required.
Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
Must have a basic understanding of profitability and contribution

Desirable
Up to date industry/product knowledge | MasterCam/MeCad experience.
Qualifications
Grade 12 certificate as a minimum requirement.
Formal CNC operator qualification.
Valid and unendorsed drivers licence | On the job training.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with specific reference to
the OSHACT, Mine Health and Safety Act and construction regulation.
Computer literacy (Office 365)
Desirable
AutoCad certificate | Quality control qualification | MasterCam/MeCad certificate.
Machine code (G-Code) qualification
Mental demands
Concentration is required where the workload will vary every day.
The ability to perform work safely is essential.
Required to be self-motivated and able to make decisions within delegated responsibility.
Will be expected to react to unpredictable operational requirements of an ad-hoc nature.
Physical demands
Physical labour will be required, in sometimes uncomfortable conditions.
Will spend majority of time in workshop, and sometimes on-site at customers.
Health and safety/ exposure to risk
Regularly exposed to mitigated and controlled risks like being in the workshop.
PPE like safety boots, overalls and ear protection are regularly required.

Description of duties Primary functional objectives of the role
Responsible for machining/grinding quality parts on the CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and Grinding
Responsible for creating and maintaining of a daily Machining Schedule.
Responsible for keeping track of raw materials and stock levels.
Responsible for loading parts, moving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
Quality control measurements for machined components.
Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machines, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
Operate lifting devices for movement of parts.
Assist the Circular Economy Centre and Engineering team with any machining needs.
Communicate with manager, engineers, sales personnel, QEHS and other personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
Full responsibility for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Take part (assisting) in the annual stock take.
Work overtime when required.
