Applications are invited for the Team Leader – Infrastructure (RF) position to be based in George .
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Team Leader – Infrastructure (RF) will be responsible to manage and lead a team responsible for the building and maintaining of a wireless network while also maintaining a fibre network. This team will consist of technicians, both senior and junior, as well as administration staff.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
Leadership:
- Lead, organise, schedule, and manage a team through implementing Herotel's Management Operating System (MOS).
- Manage and ensure optimal team performance.
- Clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities, policies and SOPs (standard operating procedures) to team members and supply employees with the resources required to perform.
- Adhere to and re-enforce the company policies, procedures and practices at all times.
- Coach, support, motivate and give feedback to the team.
- Grow and develop team members and encourage team members to do training as and when required.
- Onboard new recruits effectively and efficiently, including scheduling training.
- Lives and promotes the Herotel values and culture.
Planning:
- Plan and execute remedial actions on existing infrastructure deployments.
- Plan and execute routine and emergency maintenance on Infrastructure.
- Plan and execute new infrastructure builds.
- Find physical locations suitable for infrastructure as planned.
- Identify any weaknesses, problems and risks on existing Infrastructure deployments and create a systematic plan of action to solve these shortcomings.
- Ensure that the team is informed of all relevant SOPs and that they comply with it.
OHS:
- Ensure that the team comply with the OHS rules and regulations.
- Create a culture of safe working practices.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with NOC, RF and Fibre to identify problem areas on the network.
- Assist Network manager with planning Capex spending on infrastructure.
- Ensuring FTTH allocations are received from the growth team and that training is deployed to the technical teams.
Reporting:
- Communicate and report verbally and in writing to other team members and management.
- Produce monthly reports of activities.
- Produce monthly KPIs of the Infrastructure team.
Maintenance:
- Preparing Maintenance schedule for the infrastructure teams.
- Oversee the service of equipment and maintenance schedules.
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of industry experience.
- 4-years High-Site / RF / Network / Fibre experience will be advantageous.
- Minimum 2-years technical leadership/management experience.
- Infrastructure and facilities management experience would be advantageous.
- Driver's license.
- Technically and administratively inclined.
- Be capable of a hands-on approach in leading their team through demonstration.
- Must have experience with relevant planning and monitoring tools/software.
- Advanced understanding of electrical components will be beneficial.
- Advanced understanding of power and battery equipment.
- Adequate knowledge of network hardware and software.
- Have advanced fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and in written form.
- Self-disciplined, motivated, and organised.
- Able to prioritize tasks according to their importance / urgency.
Education Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Math and science will be advantageous).
- OSHA Certification will be advantageous.
