Introduction
The Strategic Projects Fund Manager has an overall responsibility for strategy formulation and implementation. Oversee and provide guidance on all aspects of deal making, execution and strategic planning related to deal sourcing and negotiates transactions as a member of a team. Consistently leads transactions from identification, negotiations, closing, monitoring of investments and finally exit thereof. The incumbents take final responsibility for the transactions, manage departmental budgets and targets. Furthermore, to manage the team performance and be custodian of external stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment Facilitation: Identify and facilitate a process of enabling the NEF to invest in transactions that meet the NEF and Strategic Project Fund mandate.
- Deal Evaluation: Deal structuring, pricing and reviewing various documentation.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with all other NEF business units/Funds for lessons learned and guide the team.
- Negotiation: Negotiate deal terms and conditions to conclude transactions efficiently.
- Transaction Structuring: Structure transactions to ensure quality deals are banked, lower impairments, and improve investment collections.
- Administration: Ensure all policies, procedures, and reports are generated for effective communication and achievement of objectives.
- Business Development: Develop strategies and plans for the Fund by identifying new opportunities and needs.
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree / B Com Degree
- Combination of the above qualifications will be advantageous
Experience / Skills Required
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in deal making environment with minimum of 5 years people management experience.
- Strong credit and risk analysis skills.
- Previous experience in managing people / professional teams.
- Well-developed presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and strategic orientation.
- Experience in development and implementation of strategic and business plans.
- Proven track record of leading the execution and closing of BEE and/or private equity transactions.
- Strong technical and industry knowledge of the BEE financing market.
- Strong technical knowledge of BEE financing structures.
- Strong technical knowledge in corporate finance disciplines.
- Deep understanding of financing documents.
- Experience in negotiating complex investment structures and related agreements.
- Well-developed business networks within the BEE investment community and SA financial markets.
- Proven ability to generate deal flow.
