Main purpose of the job:
- To counsel, screen, recruit TB patients and educating them about research and to capture study data into the electronic database
Location:
- PHRU – Louis Trichardt, Tshilwavhusiku CHC and Compensatie, Polokwane (Positions will be placed in surrounding area of Louis Trichardt and Polokwane)
Key performance areas:
- Recruitment of participants for studies
- Maintaining a good working relationship with local clinic staff
- To do study related duties as specified by the protocol
- Complete the case report forms
- Communicate routinely with the study coordinator
- Do proper filing of results and any other study related documents in the relevant assigned place
- Capture study data into REDCap or any other system
- Provide written reports to the study coordinator
- Perform ad hoc tasks as and when required
- Perform fieldwork activities as required
Required minimum education and training:
- Matric
- Fluent in at least 3 local languages (Sepedi, Xitsonga and Tshivenda)
- Basic Counsellor Certificate
- Good Clinical Practice Certificate will be advantageous
- Computer literacy
- Experienced driver with a valid driver’s license and able to drive manual vehicle. Code 8 will be advantageous
Required minimum work experience:
- At least 1- 2 years’ counselling experience in a clinical research environment

- Cope with counselling in a busy environment with disturbances
- Ability to communicate fluently and read Sepedi, English, Xitsonga and Tshivenda
- PDP would be advantageous
- Ability to multi-task and to work in a complex and demanding environment
- Must be detail orientated
- Must be able to work as a member of a team
- It is expected that s/he will apply consistent adherence to research and GCP practices
