Red Ember Recruitment is seeking to hire a Property Accountant based at the client in CBD Johannesburg.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for our property portfolio, including revenue analysis, cash flows, and variance analysis, to provide insights that drive strategic decisions.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with management to develop comprehensive property budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide detailed variance analyses to highlight key financial trends.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee accounts receivable for the property portfolio, ensuring timely invoicing and rent collection. Address outstanding receivables and work to resolve discrepancies effectively.
- Lease Administration: Maintain up-to-date lease databases, accurately recording lease terms, rent escalations, and other critical lease transactions. Calculate and process tenant rent adjustments as necessary to reflect current lease terms.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the COO and the Management Accounts team to ensure smooth coordination on all financial matters related to property management.
- Reconciliations: Conduct detailed reconciliations, analyzing expenses, tenant billings, and lease agreements to ensure financial accuracy and consistency with lease terms.
Requirements
- A three-year Accounting Qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software, with specific experience in Pastel and MDA Property Management Software, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex financial data and trends effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional demeanor for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
