About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining analytical solutions using Amazon Redshift and Tableau. You will apply your solid understanding of data modeling, SQL querying, data analysis, and data presentation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing scalable data models and analytical solutions using Amazon Redshift, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing.
- Developing and optimizing complex SQL queries and analytical procedures to extract insights from large datasets stored in Redshift.
- Designing and developing Tableau dashboards to surface and present data analytics to the organisation.
- Implementing data quality checks, data transformations, and data cleansing processes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of analytical data.
- Developing and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data warehouse.
- Optimizing Redshift database performance by implementing partitioning strategies, indexing, query tuning, and workload management.
- Implementing data security and access controls within Redshift to ensure data privacy and compliance.
- Participating in code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain best practices.
Requirements
- BSC degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience with Amazon Redshift and Microsoft BI systems, including data modeling, SQL querying, and performance tuning. Experience in PowerBI and Tableau.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with analytical tools and techniques (e.g., data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning).
- Expertise in development languages including but not limited to: Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, .NET, Unix, HPCC.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data integration best practices.
- Able to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
- Knowledge of test-driven development.
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve process inefficiencies (i.e., bugs) in the repository.
