As part of the world's largest online store, Amazon's RISC team protects Amazon customers from products that are illegal or otherwise restricted by Amazon policies. As a Risk Manager on the team, you'll help design, create and deploy internal tools and tech to mitigate risk that keep Amazon a safe place to shop. You'll partner with world wide stakeholders to drive risk mitigation initiatives and have the best user-facing tools and help us stay up-to-date with emerging threats and risks in the e-commerce space.
About the team
The Compliance Health team acts as ‘the pulse of Worldwide Regulatory Intelligence, Safety, and Compliance (RISC) function'. The primary role is to develop and implement processes that mitigate risks associated with our product catalog. We spearhead efforts to establish risk metrics, standardize procedures, and streamline processes across all teams within RISC. This is achieved by identifying gaps or deficiencies in existing processes, re-evaluating standard operating procedures, and proactively addressing new risk signals.
The Compliance Health team members are dedicated subject matter experts who assume accountability for identifying vulnerabilities and reducing risks within our product catalog. The top priority is risk mitigation, and to collaborate closely with global program leads to establish and standardize risk reduction processes. Risk Manage will be responsible
to mitigate risk for RISC programs whose charter is to protect Amazon customers from products that are illegal, hazardous, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited /regulated by Law and Amazon policies.
- Perform Risk reviews to meet compliance and risk goals and in turn support internal business units to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures
- Responds to reported violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative and corrective procedures
- Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities with WW stakeholders
- Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
- Work with various Amazon teams to formulate strategy, seek automation opportunities and leverage technologies
- Link all the programs to business metrics and build solutions keeping that in mind
- Work with various internal teams to help drive tools, best practices and process improvements that affect classification speed of the program
- Provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews
Key Performance Areas:
- Establish SOPs, process controls, recommend revisions and ensure alignment with risk and regulatory requirements
- Measures key metrics, process or control risk to inform product and program level risk assessment
- Maintains subject matter expertise and current industry knowledge to operationally execute risk management programs
- Deliver business goals for processes handled
- Ideate new initiatives for risk mitigation and partner with product and science team to develop new work streams
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
Preferred qualifications
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel
- Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements
